How do warming temperatures, more variable weather and more frequent and intense weather extremes threaten the profitability of your farm operation? Take this workshop with Laura Lengnick, Principal, Cultivating Resilience, LLC to learn how to identify critical climate threats to your farm operation and learn about “no-regrets” adaptation actions being taken by farmers and ranchers throughout the U.S. that you can use to improve the climate resilience of your farm.
Laura Lengnick has actively explored the potential of agriculture and food systems to enhance community sustainability for more than 30 years. Trained as a soil scientist, Laura has worked as a federal researcher and policy-maker, a community activist, an educator, and a farmer to understand what it takes to move sustainability values into action on the farm, in our communities and as a nation. She has produced organic vegetables for direct markets in Virginia and North Carolina and she homesteads 2 acres in Swannanoa using biointensive and permaculture practices. Her book, Resilient Agriculture: Cultivating Food Systems for a Changing Climate, explores climate change, resilience and the future of food through the adaptation stories of 27 award-winning farmers and ranchers located across the U.S.
